Beskrivning / Case description: | The students of Class Teacher Education who have earlier gained knowledge and skills of handicraft by taking an interest in it as a hobby can seek recognition. The portfolio serves as a tool for recognising prior learning of hobby handicraft for the exemption from a mandatory study unit concerning handicraft education. The portfolio consists of differ-ent documents and samples of hobby handicraft chosen by the student. The form is free but the themes are predefined (development and future challenges of personal handicraft learning, handicraft as hobby and analysis of designing process, and curriculum, differen-tiation, and evaluation in handicraft education). The portfolio is evaluated for its con-tents, aesthetics, and functionality. Criteria for contents are creativity, documentation of handicraft process, self-assessment, suitability of artefacts for school work. |

| Egen bedömning av “best practice” / own evaluation of practice: | The portfolio suits well the purposes of the personal curriculum/study programme. Short-ens the time of study. Develops skills of evaluation necessary for a teacher. Makes the study groups smaller, enables a more effective use of teaching resources. Can be applied to other arts and crafts or physical education studies in teacher education.
