The board of the Danish Adult Education Association has set up a forum for discussions on non-formal and informal competences. The purpose of this forum is to get some input, to have sparring-partners and to coordinate the work of our member-organisations.The Forum is a strategic effort made by the member-organisations in order to create collaborative knowledge building and sharing. At the meetings we are calling in national and international actors and experts. Experiences across the different sectors are included at the meetings, which have been held with short intervals since August 2004 and are widely supported by the participants. |

Policy making, QA and competence development among the DAEA member organisations |
Beskrivning / Case description: | The main purpose of the DAEA forum is: to coordinate the initiatives and projects on non-formal and informal competences taken by our member-organisations/ to create mutual inspiration on a professional level by sharing results and discussing the importance of non-formal and informal competences in adult education, in the formal educational system and at the labour market/ to spread knowledge about the initiatives taken on non-formal and informal competences and to present experiences from other countries./ to set a framework for a structured debate/ to share knowledge, experience and inspiration as to the organizationel development of the member-organisations and the DAEA/ to provide the board of DAEA with useful input when debating Danish education policy concerning non-formal and informal competences. The goal is to promote non-formal adult education and to make it play a more important role.A great number of DAEA’s member-organisations (educational associations, residential and non residential folk high schools and residential schools) are already working on projects about non-formal and informal competences. These projects are often financed by DAEA’s development fund. The common objective of these projects is to translate abstract ideas about competences into concrete indicators and specified actions which, combined with relevant tools, will be exposed to the participants as a part of the competences they achieve by participating in non-formal adult education. Not only do they benefit professionally from adult education, but they also acquire several ‘soft competences’ in addition. Non-formal adult education plays an important role at the beginning of the validation process – by helping the participant identify and document his/her competences through dialogue and guidance. |
