Nordplus Adult project
The overall objectives of the project Also me! are to increase information and to deepen understanding about the social media, to improve the skills of adult educators and journalists to professionally utilize the social media.
The planned output and products of the project (2010-2011) are:
1) A pilot course on Facebook to be disseminated and utilized by all partner organizations.
2) A common seminar for adult educators and journalists on social media in every partner country.
3) Publicity of the project and publications.
The project partners are: Association for Estonian Women Editors (Estonia), Lempäälä Adult Education Centre (Finland), Women Journalists in Finland (Finland), Estonian Non-formal Adult Education Association (Estonia), Vilnius Adult Education Centre (Lithuania). The coordinator is KVS Foundation, Kansanvalistusseura (Finland).
A central aim of the project is that journalists and adult educators – both professions being affected by social media - learn together and create products together. Planning, sharing the ideas and learning from each others´ experiences became the key method of the project.
The project begun by the preliminary project SMEA (2009), within the partners had a seminar and a workshop with experts on social media: researchers, the police, writers and social media producers, by the support of Finnish Institute in Tallinn.
Also me! –project had three meetings, it produced three seminars for adult educators and journalists, one in every partner country; courses and a handbook on social media a for adult educators, Facebook pages for partner organisations, even a model of Social Media Day for an adult education centre and experiences on Skype seminar between two countries.
The publicity was gained in the Finnish web magazine for adult educators Sivistys and on the web pages of the project partners.
