Dear Reader
In Kongens Have park in central Odense, a group of little boys was running around playing. The park was not quite itself on that day due to various tents and stands that invited curious bypassers to walk around and see what was going on. What attracted the boys’ attention, however, was a large balloon. It wasn’t just large, it was ENORMOUS.
The boys tried persistently to free the balloon by shoving it, but it was fastened with ropes. The bravest of them squeezed in under the balloon to get a better grip, but even that did not help.
The boys did not immediately notice the slogan printed on the balloon: ”A ton of CO2 takes up this much space. Take the challenge – try to save a ton per year”. But the message has caught people’s attention – far beyond Kongens Have park. Campaigns like this have different names in different countries, but the message definitely remains the same: Come on, reduce your energy consumption! Our behaviour is insanely irresponsible!
This latest issue of DialogWeb is a theme issue on sustainable development. The articles introduce you to families, ministers, and educators, as well as mangers and employees of organisations and companies, who are trying to stand up against CO2 emissions and meet the climate challenge.
Many people feel like the boys in Kongens Have park – the challenge is ENORMOUS. But solutions must be found.
Enjoy the articles and let them inspire you!
